F.A.Q's

1) Can anyone do light painting?

Pretty much, yes. Disabilities can normally be accommodated, although if you are photosensitive it might not be the right thing for you.

2) Do I need to bring anything with me?

If you have your own camera (or camera phone) that you can set to a long exposure and would like to use that, please do. If you have your own tripod, that's great. If not, we will capture the images on my camera and email them to you.

3) Is there anything I need to wear?

It is much better to wear dark clothing when doing light painting (leave the Hi-Vis in the car). Sturdy shoes or boots are also a good idea as we will try and work outside as much as possible. Also, wear clothing that will keep you warm. The sessions take place in the late evening as it is going dark, so even in the summer it can get a little cool.

4) Is it suitable for children?

Yes it is! Family sessions are great! Children from around 8 and upwards should not have a problem with light painting although anyone under 16 will need to be accompanied by a responsible adult. Some of the longer tools may be harder to use, but there are lots of shorter tools as well.

5) Is it dangerous?

I have one basic rule when light painting, "If you can't do it safely, then don't do it". You do need to remember that it will be dark, and wherever possible we will do the session outside, so it is a good idea to get to know the surroundings and the ground before starting, and I will cover all the safety considerations at the start of the session.

6) What happens if it is raining?

Whenever possible we will try and work outside for the light painting so that you get a really nice backdrop. However, if it is raining or too windy (this is West Wales after all), we also have a hall available where we can light paint.
